PAINTINGS: BLACK, WHITE AND BLUE
From Akureyri going north along Eyjafjörður I see the mountains still cover with snow. They look black with white marks. An endless range of striking beauty. You can see images emerging from them. I’m thinking of those Icelandic sagas with their creatures from the Norse mythology. The Magic Lake: after a long and strenuous hike up the mountain this lake appears, like a mirage. The snow melts into the clear water in different ice formations. The cold wind carries them in a dance. I stand there listening to the silence, smelling the air, really looking, being fully present in this moment. Melting Away: I’m simplify what I see through lines, using three colors. I’m surrendering like the snow melting away, like the figures in the mountain with their arms towards the sky. I have moved from place to place throughout my life, I’m a painting with different brush strokes.
